Overview

What Higher/Lower is

Higher/Lower is a daily geography stat game built around a single question: which country has the larger value for the statistic in front of you? Every player worldwide receives the same puzzle, and each round shows two countries with a chosen measure such as population, GDP, land area, coffee consumption, or FIFA ranking. You have five rounds, and every correct pick earns a point. Your final score maps to a title, from Lost in Space at the low end to Geographic Genius for a perfect run. Beyond the daily challenge, Levels mode expands the game with 276 levels across four formats: Classic, New Stats, World Records, and Podium. Podium is the twist, asking you to rank three near-tied countries instead of choosing between two. The game is free, has no account or subscription, and keeps your streak and results stored locally in the browser.

Getting started

How to play

Start with the daily puzzle, which contains five rounds. Each round presents two countries along with a selected statistic, and your job is to choose the country you believe has the higher value. Every correct pick gives you one point, and the puzzle cannot be replayed once finished. A fresh daily puzzle appears at midnight UTC for everyone. If you want more than one set of comparisons, move to Levels mode for 276 levels across Classic, New Stats, World Records, and Podium. In Podium mode, you rank three countries at once rather than picking between two. After the daily score is shown, you can share a spoiler-free result card.

Practical help

Tips

  1. Treat every daily round as a final answer: a perfect 5/5 earns the Geographic Genius label, while 0 or 1 correct leaves you in Lost in Space.
  2. Daily country pairs are chosen with value ratios kept between 1.05x and 3.0x, so neither side should feel like a blowout; think in relative terms instead of relying only on obvious facts.
  3. In Podium mode, you face near-tie trios across all 18 statistics, so compare all three countries carefully before setting the order.
Quick answers

Common questions

Can I replay today's Higher/Lower puzzle if I make a mistake?

No. The daily puzzle cannot be replayed once you complete it. A new puzzle is published at midnight UTC, and all players worldwide receive the same fresh set that day.

What is different about Levels mode and Podium mode?

Levels mode offers 276 levels across Classic, New Stats, World Records, and Podium. World Records mode leans on unusual statistics rather than core demographics. Podium mode changes the usual two-country comparison by asking you to rank three near-tied countries at once.

Do I need an account or subscription to play?

No. The game is free with no account, no subscription, and no ads. Your streak and results are stored locally in the browser, not on a server.

Which statistics can appear in a comparison?

The statistic pool includes population, GDP, land area, UNESCO sites, coffee consumption, McDonald's locations, the World Happiness Report, and FIFA ranking. World Records mode focuses on unusual statistics instead of core demographics.
