Overview

What WordFlow is

WordFlow is a daily word puzzle built around a chain of 8 words. Each word in the chain pairs with the next to form a common two-word phrase, like a familiar compound or collocation. You begin with only the first word revealed, and your job is to work out the remaining words in order. The first letter of every word is shown for free, giving you a starting point for each deduction. After that, a new letter is automatically revealed every 15 seconds, and each auto-revealed letter counts as a strike against you. Your goal is to complete the chain with as few strikes as possible. The puzzle is free to play on the web, and a fresh challenge appears each day. Once you finish, you can share your result, including your strike count, with others.

Getting started

How to play

Start by looking at the first word, which is fully visible. Think of common two-word phrases that begin with that word. The next word in the chain is the second half of such a phrase. Enter your guess for that next word. If it is correct, the chain advances and you see the next word's first letter for free. If your guess is wrong or you are unsure, the 15-second timer will eventually reveal another letter of the current word. Each revealed letter adds one strike. Continue this process for each of the 8 words, using the phrase relationship and the revealed letters to deduce the correct sequence. After solving all 8 words, your final strike count is recorded and can be shared.

Practical help

Tips

  1. Think of the most obvious common phrase for each word before guessing; the puzzle likely uses a familiar pairing.
  2. Use the free first letter of each word to narrow down possible phrases that fit the context of the chain.
  3. Keep an eye on the 15-second timer; if you are stuck, waiting for a letter reveal may be better than a random guess.
  4. Try to solve each word quickly to minimize the number of auto-revealed letters and keep your strike count low.
