What Football Grid is

Football Grid is a daily soccer trivia puzzle built around six clubs and a 3x3 grid. The club on the left of each row and the club at the top of each column define a crossover, and your job is to name a footballer who played for both clubs in every intersecting cell. You have nine guesses per puzzle, and every cell is guaranteed to have at least one valid answer. The database draws on roughly 71,000 footballers from Wikipedia career tables, and loan spells count while youth-team appearances, international caps, and signings without appearances do not. No account is needed, statistics stay on your device, and the daily grid resets at local midnight. A spoiler-free copy result lets you share your finished grid with friends.

How to play

Look at the row club on the left and the column club at the top of an empty cell. Think of a senior footballer who represented both clubs at some point in their career. Type the player's name into the search box; suggestions appear after two letters. Select the correct suggestion, and it drops into any matching cell on the grid. If the selected footballer fits no cell, a no-place message appears and the guess is still spent. A wrong answer leaves the cell empty, so you can use another of your remaining guesses on the same cell. Keep going until every cell is filled or all nine guesses are used.

Tips

1. Loan spells count as a club appearance, but youth-team games and international caps do not, so focus on senior club football.
2. A footballer can only appear once per grid, so if a player fits two cells you must decide which one gets their name.
3. The search box suggests players after two letters, so you can start a search with just the last name.
4. Use the Copy Result option to share a spoiler-free version of your grid without giving away the answers.
