Overview

What Dropped is

Dropped is a daily estimation challenge built around a simple question: where will the ball come down? You watch only the opening of each throw's arc, then place a marker on the ground to call the landing spot. Your score is the distance between your marker and the true landing point — the closer, the better. Five throws come each day, and you get one call per throw. There is no timer, so you can take your time, but formulas are not allowed and you cannot draw the curve to help yourself. It is a pure test of reading a trajectory by eye. If you miss a throw, a replay is available so you can see what happened. Every player sees the same five throws each day, making it a fair comparison of estimation skill. Dropped is one of six free daily estimation games on Freehand and runs entirely in your web browser. A full session takes about five minutes.

Getting started

How to play

Each day, you are shown the start of a ball's arc. You then place a marker on the ground to call where you think the ball will land. After you make your call, the true landing spot is revealed and you are scored on the distance between your marker and that spot. You have one call per throw and five throws per day. If you miss a throw, you can view a replay of it. There is no timer, so you can take as long as you need to make each call.

Practical help

Tips

  1. Pay close attention to the entire opening of the arc before placing your marker — the early trajectory carries the most information about where the ball is heading.
  2. With only one call per throw, commit to your best read rather than second-guessing after the fact.
