What Bloom is
Bloom is a spatial logic puzzle where your goal is to fill an entire 14×14 grid with as few moves as possible. You begin with a territory anchored at the top-left corner, and each move expands that territory by flood-filling all touching cells of a color you select from six available options. The challenge is to choose the order of colors wisely to minimize the total number of moves. Your score is measured against a par target, which is calculated by a greedy algorithm that approximates the optimal solution. The closer you finish to par, the higher your score, with a maximum of 10,000 points. Bloom offers a daily shared puzzle for players worldwide, plus 240 levels spread across four distinct modes: Classic, Seed, Virus, and Token. In Seed mode, you start from seed positions instead of the corner. Virus mode introduces a fuchsia color that spreads one tile after every move, forcing you to absorb it before it grows too large. Token mode limits how many times each color can be used, and running out of a color while it still exists on the board ends the game. The game is free forever, requires no account, and contains no ads.
How to play
Your territory starts at the top-left corner of the grid. On each move, you choose one of six colors, and your territory immediately expands to include every touching cell of that color. The goal is to fill the entire board in as few moves as possible. The par score is set by a greedy algorithm, and your final score depends on how many moves you use relative to that par. Scoring tiers are defined as par+1, par+2–3, par+4–6, and par+7+, with better results yielding higher points up to 10,000. In Classic mode, you simply work from the corner. Seed mode changes the starting position to designated seed cells. Virus mode adds a fuchsia virus that spreads one tile after each of your moves, so you must prioritize absorbing it. Token mode gives each color a limited number of uses; if you exhaust a color while cells of that color remain, you lose. You can switch between the daily puzzle and the 240 levels across all four modes. The daily puzzle offers one attempt per day, and your streak resets if you miss a day.
Tips
- Plan your color order before moving, aiming to merge large same-colored regions in as few steps as possible.
- In Virus mode, focus on absorbing the fuchsia virus early to prevent it from spreading too far across the grid.
- In Token mode, conserve your limited color uses and avoid wasting a color on a small patch if a larger patch is coming.
- Track your score against the par target; finishing at par or better earns the highest points, up to 10,000.
Common questions
How is the par score calculated?
Par is calculated using a greedy algorithm that approximates the optimal solution for each puzzle. Your score is based on how close you are to that par value, with better results earning more points up to a maximum of 10,000.
What are the four game modes in Bloom?
The four modes are Classic, Seed, Virus, and Token. Classic starts from the top-left corner. Seed mode uses seed positions instead of the corner. Virus mode adds a fuchsia virus that spreads after each move. Token mode limits how many times each color can be used, and running out of a color while it remains on the board loses the game.
Is there a limit to daily play?
Yes, there is one daily puzzle per day, and you get one attempt per day. If you miss a day, your streak resets. The daily puzzle is shared by all players worldwide.
